  • Made by the Paden City Pottery Company
  • Round shape with shell-like tab handles, feet and finials
  • Shell Krest is the “Elite” shape restyled
    (Elite didn't have the shell design on flatware)
  • Made in the late 30s to very eary 40s
  • Produced in three forms:
    • with Decal treatments
    • “Caliente” -- Fiesta-like bold solid colors
    • in pastel solid colors
  • Assortment consists of approx. 25 items
  • Most items have the “Shell Krest” marking
  • “Caliente” has a special mark.

Left: 6" plate with the "Patio" treatment, shaker in cobalt
Right: chop plate in red, luncheon plate in turquoise, coupe soup in cobalt

Hand painted and under-the-glaze treatments
on Shell Krest fruit cups. The one on the left
reads: “Here's to our wives and sweethearts -
may they never meet.” To the right is a man sing-
ing the tune, “Sweet Adeline.” Both of these
novety items are dated 1943.


“Bak-Serv” pitcher which was dipped
in red to go with the Caliente line.
