The Colonial Couple treatments (also called, “Courting Couple” and “Colonial Quadrille”) have been found on shapes from various potteries. Most of the time, these decals were applied by an outside company such as Pacific China, Pearl China, Royal China and others.

These treatments come mainly from the late 1940s and early 1950s. They can be found on dinnerware, art pottery, and lamps. Five common decals are shown below, but you may find others. Also shown are examples from Homer Laughlin shapes. Other pieces can be found made by Taylor Smith and Taylor, Harker, Knowles, W.S. George and Salem.

“Colonial Couple” treatments

On the left is the smallest of the Colonial treatments.
It usually appears on cups, creamers, sugars and saucers.
