There are several HLC decal treatments which are easily confused with one another. Most of the time these treatments are floral in nature. Show below are just a few of the many decals which are often confused and misidentified.

Magnolia vs. Dogwood
Dogwood flowers are small clusters surrounded by FOUR large “showy bracts” which are mistaken as petals
In contrast, Magnolia blossoms generally have more than four “petals”

HLC, TS&T and other companies used both Magnolia and Dogwood decals in the 1940s and 1950s. These treatments are often misidentified mainly becuase some sellers don't know the difference between the two blossoms.

“Dogwood” on Swing

Here is a close-up of a treatment commonly
found on the Liberty shape. Most people
know this as Dogwood, but the treatment more
resembles a tulip Magnolia.

Ferndale vs. Countess
Ferndale and Countess are two similar but distinct floral decal treatments which appear on both Georgian Eggshell and Nautilus Eggshell.

Countess appears on Georgian. Ferndale appears on Nautilus Eggshell, but when on Georgian, its called, “Cashmere” The major difference between these two treatments is:

  • Ferndale/Cashmere has small blue flowers within the sprigs.
  • Countess/Darcy does NOT have these blue flowers.
