06.15.00 -- The East Liverpool Pottery Collectors Convention!

Didn't have much to do today except wait for “The East Liverpool Pottery Collectors 8th Annual Convention” to begin at 7:00 in the evening. I went to see about the most recent group of slides and it seems I overexposed on some of them (what ever that means!) I decided I had enough (about 25) and wouldn't worry with them anymore.

I was surprised when mom said she wanted to go to the convention party at the Thompson House (see image) in East Liverpool. She generally doesn't like dinnerware and doesn't understand how people can put such importance on "just dishes!"

There seemed to be a large number of Hall China collectors. I met about a dozen or so collectors that night, and would remember their faces for the next few days but would have problems remembering their names. Bill and Polly Mackall were there so I was glad mom would have someone to talk to!

I finally got to meet Fran and Carl Stone (major contributors to this site.) They had driven a camper-type vehicle (don't know the exact name) all the way from New York and had made a shopping trip out of the journey. They had even brought along their babies, Tango and Zephyr. They are exotic birds and, yes, they are named after the dinnerware lines: Tango & Zephyr.

Mom met Darlene Nossaman and quickly took a liking to her. My mom just as bad as I am when it comes to names, but I figured she was talking about Darlene when she said that the "lady from Texas" was very nice.

This year's convention was headed by Bill and Donna Gray. Not only did they have to stay on top of things and organize the events for the next few days, but both were battling colds! They had done a great job with the party as there was food, food and more food. The next two days would be almost non stop.
