Left: Fake WAG Teapot, Right: Comparison between fake and real HLC versions.

Courtesy: Linda, varnishgal@aol.com: The "fake" pot, as you can see from the pics, is a deeper, richer yellow, and the glaze has a "flat", matte feel to it. The dimensions are almost identical (9-1/4" from spout to handle and 5" high for the "fake"), although the spout on a "true" Wells pot is slightly longer, and more gracefully curved. The embossing on the "fake" pot is not particularly crisp, and the three concentric lines that are found on a "true" Wells teapot lid are absent. On the Laughlin pot, the steam hole is placed further from the handle on the lid.
