_ About the web master...

Mark with his dog Mistie
Since 1999, Mark Gonzalez has been web master of OhioRiverPottery.com. The over 600 web pages were designed to provide information on American Dinnerware in a very simple format. Dozens of people have contributed information and images over the years and now the site contains close to 3000 pictures of collectible dinnerware.

Mark was born in East Liverpool, Ohio (commonly referred to as the "pottery capital of the world") and grew up in Newell, West Virginia. His grandparents worked in many potteries in the area including Homer Laughlin, Taylor Smith & Taylor, and Sebring. At age 10, Mark started collecting wares made by the companies where his family once worked.

He has written three books on dinnerware, contributed to other pottery references and has written articles for collector magazines and clubs.

By the way, I'm also a Joan Crawford fan.
Here's a good site to visit: The Best of Everything: A Joan Crawford Encyclopedia

I took this pic the last time I was
in LA in the mid-1990s.

Lux Ad, circa 1949

The back of this 8X10 reads: JOAN CRAWFORD'S HONEYMOON WARDROBE... For her wedding to Phillip Terry, Joan wore this Irene suit of two tone beige. Her flower trimmed felt hat with over-brim of lace is in the same beige tones. Full gauntlet gloves of bright green velvet are the only color note. Upon complete of her recent film "Above Suspicion" the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer star and her bridegroom are enjoying a belated honeymoon at their Brentwood home.

The back of this one says: WHAT IS IT YOU DON'T QUITE SWALLOW?...asks Mary (Joan Crawford) in this scene from "When Ladies Meet," Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's gay, romantic comedy-drama, with Robert Taylor, Greer Garson and Herbert Marshall in the all-star cast. Robert Z. Leonard and Orville O. Dull produced the film, adapted from Rachel Crother's New York stage hit and directed by Leonard. APPROVED ADVERTISING ADVISORY COUNCIL. AUG 15 1941, HOLLYWOOD.
